Why the title, ‘Men of Mettle’, let’s face it, in the wake of media and public attention focussing largely towards women empowerment and all the issues related to women, men have often been grossly ignored! Women, indeed, possess an indomitable spirit and carry their responsibilities of not just their households, but also that of their families and even nations on their shoulders BUT men are certainly not less in any measure.
If we look around we see, hear and read so many inspiring stories of men who have not just survived but surpassed the tests and trials of life, through their might and mettle and their meticulous ways. Whether striving hard to build a career or shoulder the responsibility as the ‘Head of the family’ and that of the ‘bread-winner’ they have done it with meticulous ease. They have been through their own share of struggles and strife and done justice to all the roles they have had to play, that of a father, a husband, a son, a brother, a friend, and the like. Above all, balancing all the roles with the silent strength they possess but seldom like to talk about.
As a man, I loved the theme and barely did we share it in the literary circle we received an overwhelming response. So, we have for our readers here, an eclectic mix of poems, stories and bios, all dedicated to the spirit of ‘Men and their Mettle’.
