The Young Bards 1

As I read through the poems and articles penned by these young bards in ‘The Young Bards Book1, I was filled with a deep sense of wonder and awe at their capacity to think beyond the ‘mediocre and mundane’. They really have a mind of their own and their creative expressions speak volumes of the potential they have ‘to think, speak and pen down’ their thoughts on a wide range of topics.

As for their poems, I am speechless, such a creative genius at this age and writing on a wide range of topics, few common ones such as Mother, Gratitude, Dreams, Rain, Summer , a few laced with the local flavour of ‘wada pao and cuttng chai’, the lifelines of Mumbai and other intense ones, such as Life, Wars, We live in a Society and Euthanasia, reflecting their deep understanding of life and maturity beyond their biological age.

Also reading through these poems I swept through waves of nostalgia, for I walked down memory lane to my school days and remembered how my school teachers encouraged me to write. My teacher of grade VII, Mrs. Padmanabhan had named me ‘the little poet of the class’ and that really motivated me, big time.

I think these kids are very lucky to have Meena Misra, a loving teacher, a prolific writer, an established editor and an upcoming publisher rolled into one, in their midst, who has providing them with this wonderful platform to enable them to give vent to their immense creative energy.

If the poems are heartfelt then the Prose section is no less. These young bards have poured their sentiments beautifully in form of essays, articles and anecdotes on several topics ranging from ‘Patriotic Sentiments’ to ‘Education and Employment”, ‘Man and Technology’ to ‘Movies and Television’, ‘Dreams unlimited to Travel Tales’ and. A lot many interesting topics bound to capture your imagination and interest!

As I edited these passionate pourings, one thought that crossed my mind constantly is that, ‘Child is the Father of Man’. Indeed, these young writers have proved it time and again through their write-ups, that they certainly have a mind of their own and are unstoppable, you cannot take them lightly and ‘you just cannot underestimate the power of the pourings’ of these young bards.

As for TYB project, I must say, it is a golden opportunity for all the schools and its talented students to fulfil their dream of getting their work published. Who knows how many of ‘These Young Bards’ may join the list of bestseller authors and make a name for themselves, as the stage is all set for them.

Way to go you young, immensely talented students, I am proud of you.

Last but certainly not the least, I feel so privileged to be the editor of the very first project of ‘The Young Bards’, thank you Meena Mishra, CEO, lmpish Lass Publishing House, for bestowing this honour upon me. I am truly enriched by the entire experience.
